This is a special day for the fathers we love. I want to make it loud and clear that I am only addressing the real men out there.
The men that have taken the responsibility to nurture and provide for their kids.
For those of you who no longer have a father due to the tragedies of life, please don't be down. I am sure this is easier said than done.
Do your best to remember the good days you have had with your one and only Superman.
For those of you who don't have a father due to him making the wrong choice in life, I hope you realize that he is missing out on the most precious thing in life...YOU.
Be grateful that you have the people in your life that love you and support you through the ups and downs.
I'm aware it's not the same type of bond but please remember what I said above.
You have to know it's true.
My parents divorced when I was nine and it was a difficult time for the entire family. Despite what was going on between my mom and dad, both have always been a part of my life.
Dad is what I call a real man and a wonderful father.
During my rebellious years, he never gave up on me.
The hell I put my parents through was not totally in vain. Dad knew he would get through this hard head of mine and shape me into a better woman and mother.
Fast forward to today and nothing has changed, except that I am no longer a misfit daughter from hell.
My dad is my mentor and my best friend.
I am so thankful that dad didn't use our broken home or my selfish ways as an excuse to abandon me during the darkest hours.
This morning I made a good breakfast for the old man (just kidding daddy) and cleaned his house like a good daughter does. It is apparent that today is the day he shines the most.
I love you, daddy!
